The Bishop Ireton Center, home of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Ireton Council 6189, is seeking a Catering Coordinator to arrange, direct, and oversee catering operations in support of weddings, parties, and other social functions conducted at the Center.  Applicants should have catering/food service related experience. This is a part-time position with irregular hours.  Details associated with the position are posted below.

Job Description

Job Title: Catering Coordinator

Reports to the President of the Bishop Ireton Center (BIC) Board of Directors

Approval Date: November 6, 2007

 Summary of Duties

Coordinates activities of food service/catering events by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:

Coordinates with the BIC Operations Manager regarding all catering events.

Manages cost of events in accordance with (IAW) BIC Board directives to achieve optimum profit margin.

Reviews food and beverage lists submitted by client to determine that sufficient items are ordered and in a timely manner.

Maintain efficient and effective cost control practices and procedures for food, beverage, and other event items.  Use rented items when appropriate and   where cost savings may be realized.

Analyzes information concerning facility operations such as ABC license, food sales, patron attendance, and labor costs to prepare budget and to maintain cost visibility and controls.

Inspects and tastes prepared foods to maintain quality standards and ensure compliance with sanitation regulations.

Maintains and ensures proper cleanliness standards of all food service areas before, during, and following each catering event to meet or surpass all regulatory requirements.

Conducts semiannual area surveys of how comparable organizations perform catering operations. Make formal report with recommendations to the BIC President and Board.

Conduct customer quality assurance survey with assistance and guidance from the BIC Board.

Maintain written standing operating procedures (SOP’s) for BIC catering operations.

Perform other duties as assigned by the President of the BIC Board.

 Supervisory Responsibilities:

 Manages the floor set, kitchen food preparation, serving and cleanup.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.  Directly supervises all catering non-supervisory employees. Discharges supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training catering employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; arranging work times and validating time and pay records.  The Catering Coordinator will select catering workers within the guidelines established and mandated by the BIC Board.
